Gain a unique insight into life on Sir Bani Yas island as it was hundreds of years ago,
in this guided tour around the remains of an early-Christian monastery site.

The monastery dates back to the end of the 6th century, and is the only early
Christian site in the UAE. Buried over time, it was rediscovered on the eastern side of
the island in the early 1990s, and excavations have been taking place ever since.

During your guided walking tour, you’ll learn more about the history of the area and
the lifestyle of its inhabitants. You’ll also be able to view artefacts unearthed by the
archaeologists.

Following your tour, you’ll re-board your coach for a visit to the Majlis, at the centre
and highest point of the island. This was where many dignitaries were welcomed and
entertained during Sheik Zayed’s lifetime, and offers spectacular views. From there,
we’ll take a drive around the rest of this beautiful island before heading back to the
pier.
