Mystical Muscat

Start by departing for the Royal Opera House. This opened in Muscat in 2011, and reflects unique contemporary Omani architecture, with a capacity of more than 1000 people.

You’ll stop here for photos, then it’s time to head to the Grand Mosque. It’s one of the largest in the world, and can accommodate 20,000 worshippers at one time. After taking photos of this fantastic sight, you’ll stop by the old town of Muscat and Fort Mirani, completed in 1587, as well as Fort Jalali, which has been completely renovated as an exclusive museum of Omani heritage and culture for visiting heads of state and royalty.

Your next visit is to view the beautiful exterior of the official home of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq -Al Alam Palace. The palace is flanked by two forts, and makes for a stunning picture. Then it’s time to bargain in the oldest souq of Oman, Muttrah Souq. Enjoy some time shopping in the mix of the old and the new amidst a dazzling 18th century merchant’s house, before finally returning to the port.
