A day at the Beach

Your day begins as you meet your National Geographic photography guides and get some camera tips and techniques before you begin photographing Kalarinja, the oldest port in Dubrovnik, and the Fortress of St Lawrence. The two photography guides, Boris and Dean, have an extensive knowledge of their art. Boris has been published in National Geographic magazine, while Dean’s family has been involved in the world of photography since the 19th century.
Your first destination is a ground-level view of the impressive walls and fortifications that enclose the old city, followed by Onofrio’s fountain. You’ll capture both static monuments and subjects in motion on the bustling main street Stradun. Be prepared for uneven and slippery sections plus many stairs as you navigate the ancient stone lanes around the city.
A stop at the old town market allows a study of the array of vibrantly colored stalls, where local farmers have gathered for centuries to sell their produce. You’ll also visit the Jesuit stairs which are nearby and provide a great location to frame some unusual shots.
For a change of pace, you’ll visit the quieter side streets in Karmen, where we can photograph details of the Rector’s Palace. Take this opportunity to capture the typical stone masonry style of the region.
The tour concludes at the old harbor, taking photos of the bright boats. Here, enjoy some light refreshments while reviewing the images captured with your photography guide.
