Abu Dhabi, the heart of the UAE

Opulent and iconic, the capital city of the UAE is proudly modern and cosmopolitan. Its spectacular architecture – both new and old – sits on an island connected to the mainland by a series of bridges. There are myriad activities here, and you can discover so much in just a day. Or you can slow down and bask in the sun, enjoying the beaches and waterfront.

Abu Dhabi’s Architectural treasures

Sheikh Zayed Mosque is the most-visited site in Abu Dhabi, with more than five million visitors a year. No wonder – it’s a stunning example of neo-Islamic architecture. Marvel at the dramatic contrast between its white marble exterior and the Middle Eastern sky behind. For more stunning traditional architecture, head to the UAE’s presidential palace. Made of granite and limestone, Qasr Al Watan Palace is very intricately designed. Walk through the Great Hall and extensive gardens and you cannot help but be impressed by its opulence and splendour.

For a more modern experience, drive along the Corniche Road with its distinctive skyline of skyscrapers, and the famous Emirates Palace Hotel.
