Photos simply don’t do justice to the Pearl of the Cyclades. Why not see it for yourself?
Streets with a story to tell
Santorini embodies much of what Greece is best known for. After all, what’s the first thing we think of when we hear ‘Greece’? Beaming sunshine bouncing off whitewashed walls? Light and lavish meze eaten among locals at intimate eateries? Ancient ruins and the richest of cultural histories?
And Santorini? Santorini is the picture. But beneath its beautiful surface, we can discover much more than pretty, cobbled streets. The romance of Greece lies ready and waiting across the island, with tales to uncover and magic to be found. To know Santorini is to love Santorini, for its past and its present. And there is no better place to be in love than here.
That Santorini sunset
Few places in the world can match Santorini’s golden hours. With its hillsides stacked with iconic white and blue houses, fairy-lit rooftop restaurants and intimate bars, watching the blue sky turn to gold and then purple on this magical island is a moment that will last a lifetime.
The main town of Santorini, Fira, embodies much of what this beautiful island is known for – so where better to spend a romantic day and night there. Its famous whitewashed walls are sliced by intimate cobbled streets, where we’re greeted by vibrant flowers and cool gelato shops.
A stone’s throw from the port, Fira always wows us with its towering height. Sitting more than 1,000 feet above sea level, it’s one of the best spots in the whole of Greece to stop, sit, and take it all in. Trust us.
And the golden sun slips behind the horizon, we set out to discover intimate restaurants and romantic bars, where we watch the stars with a cool glass of local wine. The perfect way to end a perfect day.
And for us? We love to venture to the top of the island to get a panoramic view of the sun setting on another day in the Aegean. It doesn’t get more romantic than this.
